Cake in a Crate is a new baking experience, delivering quality ingredients and recipes designed to bring out the baker in you. We go where no meal kit has gone before: dessert.
Are all of your desserts really vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free?
YES! Every single one.
Dessert’s tricky. On one hand, so many of our best memories are tied to dessert. On the other, we’re told it’s bad for us. We seek to take out the stigma and bring baking back with ingredient-based recipes that are compatible with the standards of modern healthy living.
What’s in a crate?
Each Cake in a Crate includes an 8x8 recipe card, and eight or more individually-packaged pre-measured ingredients in sustainable recyclable packaging.
Where do you get your recipes?
We work with top-notch food bloggers to bring their recipes off of the blog and into your hands. Our signature recipes are developed by our founder Asha and her trusty team of test bakers across America.
Where do you get your ingredients?
We source our ingredients from family-owned and artisan makers committed to healthy people and a healthy earth. Our makers have a passion for crafting the highest quality food possible.
Are you allergen-friendly?
Our ingredients are certified vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, Kosher, and Pareve. Some of our sprinkles contain trace amounts of soy. All of our products contain nuts.

We currently ship to the 48 continental United States.
How often do you ship?
Standard delivery takes 3-5 days. We also accommodate priority, rush, and overnight shipping. Standard UPS rates apply.
How do I give a Cake in a Crate as a gift?
You’ve got two options. 1) Choose and send a Cake in a Crate directly to your favorite person. We offer customized handwritten cards and sweet little add-ons, if that’s your thing. 2) Send a gift certificate to your favorite person via email from cakeinacrate.com. They’ll get to choose their favorite cake, and that’s that.
Do you sell finished cakes?
No, silly! You make the cake. We ship you every single ingredient you need to make a dessert so good, you’ll win every popularity contest in town. (It’s all pre-measured, too!) We break the recipe down into six simple steps. What does this mean for you? No more running to the store for eggs or butter, or in the case of gluten-free baking, strange flours that might sit on your shelf for the rest of the year. Also, there’s no refrigeration needed. Every ingredient in your crate will keep for up to six months.

We know, we know. But don’t you secretly want to be? Whether you’re a frat boy or a carnivore or one of those women who stores shoes in her oven, we’ve got a recipe for you! And we believe in you. Remember, six steps or less. Everything comes pre-measured. Breathe.
What kind of tools will I need?
We recommend the following: a set of bowls, a whisk, a spatula, cake or cupcake pans, a saucepan, a cookie sheet, and a knife or spatula for frosting. Occasionally our recipes may call for a high-powered blender, a food processor, and/or an electric or stand mixer. You can find specifications on each product page.
How long will my finished cakes keep?
We think baked goods are best fresh, so most of our recipes are designed to be eaten the day they are baked. That said, desserts like our New York Cheesecake can be kept frozen for up to a week.
